"Microsoft and TomTom have settled their controversial patent dispute, which included allegations that the Linux kernel infringes on Microsoft's filesystem patents. TomTom has licensed the patents from Microsoft, but intends to remove from its Linux kernel the code that is covered by the patents. […] "This agreement puts an end to the litigation between our two companies. It is drafted in a way that ensures TomTom's full compliance with its obligations under the GPLv2, and thus reaffirms our commitment to the open source community," said TomTom IP director Peter Spours in a statement."
