Swedish MP Per Bolund (Greens) has tabled a motion that calls for software patents to be based on the FFII's 10 Core Clarifications. This motion updates a Greens motion from 2005 with references to US tax evasion patents, the Macrossan verdict, and the EPO examiners "quality strike". Putting more pressure on the EPO, MP Johan Linander (Liberal) has tabled a motion for "democratisation of the patent system". Linander says EPLA judges must be appointed by the European Parliament, the EPO influence over European innovation policy must end, and that patent examination must be privatised.
